Cultural events in Slovakia and Russia

The success of the Gala of Russian Opera Soloists, that was held in Košice last autumn, predetermined the development of the cultural relations between Russia and Slovakia in 2014. In 2014 two magnificent gala concerts with Russian opera stars were held in Košice (October, 1) and Bratislava (October, 31). The project was prepared by the Ministry of Culture of Russian Federation.
«The concerts in 2014 highlight the creative cooperation between two countries, as well as the international character of modern art. I am sure that it is the interaction in the cultural sphere that opens the way to the rapport between our nations and fosters European integration as a whole» - emphasizes Vladimir Medinskiy, the Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation.
The audience in Slovakia received an excellent opportunity to get acquainted with the rich traditions of the Russian musical theatre, that is experiencing the rise of the creative wave at the moment.
In the first concert on the stage of the State Philharmonic of Košice participated such renowned artists as Sergei Skorohodov (Mariinsky Theatre), Anna Nechayeva (Bolshoi Theatre), Julia Gertseva (Mikhailovsky Theatre), Vladislav Sulimsky (Mariinsky Theatre). In the second concert the audience was pleased with the performances of Sergei Semishkur, Irina Mataeva, Olesya Petrova and Andrei Bondarenko (Mariinsky Theatre).
