Thanks to the project the art lovers in Serbia saw the masterpieces of the world ballet along with the musical creations performed by the stars of the Mariinsky Theatre and the State Academic Capella Choir of St. Petersburg. The project of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation was aimed to further develop and strengthen the cultural links between Russia and Serbia that have been existing for many centuries.

The Days of Russian Culture in Serbia was inaugurated on September,26 with a magnificent gala of ballet soloists of the leading Russian theatres. The programme, prepared especially for this project, demonstrated the audience in the Sava Center not only classical masterpieces, but also the contemporary choreography productions. In the gala evening on the stage of the Belgrade Cultural Centre participated a lovely couple from Mikhailovsky Theatre - refined Irina Perren and «the king of classical supports» Marat Shemiunov, the brightest stars of the Mariinsky Theatre – the winner of the V International Ballet Award DANCE OPEN 2014, Vladimir Shklyarov, the Honoured Artist of Russia Anton Korsakov, charismatic Oleg Markov and exquisite Natalia Povoroznyuk from Boris Eifman Ballet Theatre, and many others.
On September 27, the residents and visitors of the capital of Serbia enjoyed the performance of the prominent Russian opera soloists. Amongst them were Alexey Dolgov (Bolshoi Theatre),Vassily Ladyuk (New Opera, Guest Soloist of Bolshoi Theatre), the winner of the prestigious Operalia, Veronica Jioeva (Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theatre, guest soloist of the Bolshoi and Mariinsky Theatres), the winner of the Grand Opera TV Competition, and Ekaterina Sergeeva (Mariinsky Theatre, guest soloist of the Bolshoi Theatre). As the schedule of the artists is planned for many years ahead, their participation in the Opera Gala in Sava Center was a real gift for opera lovers. The audience heard the famous arias from Eugene Onegin by Tchaikovsky, Don Juan by Mozart, The Barber of Seville by G. Rossini, Carmen by Georges Bizet. The areas from the operettas by Johann Strauss and I. Kalman came as a real surprise for the audience. The concert was accompanied by a symphony orchestra of Radio and Television of Serbia under the guidance of Bojan Sudjic. The audience also saw the appearance of Alim Shah (Shakhmametiev), the artistic director of the Orchestra of the Opera and Ballet Theatre of St.Petersburg Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory and chief conductor of the Novosibirsk Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra, at the conductor’s console.
The programme of the Days of Russian Culture in Serbia was continued with the series of concerts of the State Academic Capella Choir of St. Petersburg. The concerts took place on October, 20 in the Sava Center of Belgrade, on October, 21 in the Belgrade Cathedral of St. Michael the Archangel, on October, 22 in the Church of the Holy Trinity in Nis and October,23 in the Synagogue of Novi Sad. The audience warmly welcomed the St. Petersburg choristers, who have already visited the country before.
The events of the Days of Russian Culture in Serbia not only demonstrated the Serbian audience the achievements of the leading Russian artists, but also contributed to strengthening of the long-standing relations that bind our countries with the bonds of friendship for many decades.
