Igor Moiseyev Ballet Tour during the Cultural Olympics in Sochi 2014
February 21 and 22 2014 Sochi, Winter Theater |
One of the most famous folklore ensembles in the world gave two colourful concerts in the Winter Palace of Sochi on February, 21st and 22nd.
The ballet company was created by magnificent Igor Moiseyev in 1937. Since then this ensemble has been the pride and glory of our time. The audiences from different countries do not stop wondering about how easily Igor Moiseyev Ballet combines the spontaneity of folk dances from all over the world with rigor of academic manners, humor with sublime feelings.
The repertoire of the ensemble included around 200 works, staged by Igor Moiseyev, however only 14 best folk dances of various nations were chosen for the Olympic concerts. Amongst them were the Russian Summer, Greek Sirtaki, Sicilian tarantella and Moldavian folk dances – the programme of the concerts was in the same line with the international and multicultural spirit of the Olympic movement, its principles of the cross cultural unity and democracy.
The project was executed by OASIC, JSC with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation.
