Gala Concert of Russian Opera Stars in Stockholm

On December, 5 leading Russian opera singers – Vitaly Bily (baritone, Bolshoi Theatre), Anastasia Kalagina (soprano, Mariinsky Theatre), Dmitry Voropaev (tenor, Mariinsky Theatre) and Ekaterina Sergeeva (mezzo-soprano, Mariinsky Theatre) took part in the breathtaking Gala Concert on stage of the famous Musikaliska. The stars of the Russian opera were accompanied by the Rimsky-Corsakov State Conservatory Orchestra led by Alim Shakh, a prominent Russian conductor.
The former hall of the Royal Academy, that for many years had served as the main venue for the Nobel Prize Ceremony, is considered to be one of the best concert stages in the world and is famous for its magnificent acoustics. In the programme of the concert there were popular arias from The Marriage of Figaro by Mozart, Rigoletto by G.Verdi, Il Barbiere di Siviglia by G. Rossini, Gianni Schicchi by G. Puccini, Carmen by G. Bizet, as well as Neapolitan Songs, filled with the sparkling joy and warmth and therefore so much loved by the most demanding audience all over the world.
The participation in the concert of both world-famous opera stars and young talented soloists emphasize the succession of Russian opera tradition and the commitment to the high standards of the Russian classical school of music.
According to the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, this Gala has become yet another important step in the development of the cooperation between Russian and Swedish opera professionals, on the one hand, and an amazing opportunity for the Stockholm audience to get acquainted with the best that the Russian culture can offer, on the other. International communication in the language of music that is accessible and comprehensive for everyone, has been the perfect base for the formation and further strengthening of the cultural ties, that have been linking Russia and Sweden over the years.
