Days of Russian Culture in Brazil

The Days of Russian Culture in Brazil were inaugurated by the exhibition of Vadim Gippenritter, a famous Russian photographer. A prominent artist in all senses of the word and an author of numerous photo collections, he granted the local audience with the opportunity to get acquainted with that part of Russia that “is not reachable by car”. The best works of Gippenritter were exhibited in the Museum of Image and Sound (Museu do Som e Imagem) in Sao Paolo, the exhibition was open until December, 11.
On the day of the inauguration of the exhibition in the same building the concert of Grad-Quartet, an instrumental folk band from St. Petersburg, was held. Talented musicians performed world-famous “Ochi chernye”, “ Kalinka”, “Valenki’ and other international hits in their original arrangements.
However it is the marvelous Gala Concert of Russian Ballet Stars that became the most anticipating event of the Days of Russian Culture. The concert was held on December,1st in the Municipal Theatre of Rio de Janeiro. The leading ballet dancers of Mariinsky, Mikhailovsky and Bolshoi Theatres participated in the event. The local ballet lovers were able to get acquainted with the artistic talents of Denis Matvienko, Kristina Kretova, Anton Korsakov, Igor Kolb, Anna Tikhomirova and Artem Ovcharenko, who are masterfully combining the classical choreography with the modern dance.
