Days of Culture of Russia in Venezuela
September 14 and 15 2013 Teresa Carreño, Caracas |
For the second time Venezuela heartily welcomes the stars of Russian ballet: on 14 and 15 September 2013 on stage of Teresa Teresa Carreño Theater in Caracas there will be two grand ballet galas with the participation of outstanding Russian dancers, soloists of the Bolshoi Theater (Moscow), Mikhaylovsky and Mariinsky Theaters (Saint-Petersburg). This is just part of the great events within the cultural cooperation between Russia and the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela that started last year at a brand new level. Back in 2012 within the program “Days of Russian Culture in Venezuela”, the citizens and guests of Caracas and Maracaibo could enjoy the great traditions of Russian choreographic school. The program, presented to the Venezuelan auditorium, included the best achievements of modern ballet culture of Russia and became a great success.
This year the audience will be surprised with elegant diversity including pas de deux from “Esmeralda” performed by the brilliant duet of Bolshoi Theater Anastasia Stashkevich and Principal Dancer Mikhail Lobukhin, pas de deux from “Le Corsaire” performed by the star couple Anastasia and Denis Matvienko, Guest Principle of the Mariinsky Theater, expressive “Cello” by Nacho Duato performed by the soloists of the Mikhailovsky Theater Sabina Yapparova and Marat Shemiunov, as well as modern interpretation of Saint-Sa?ns with the original choreography by R. Poliktaru and splendidly performed by the Honored Artist of Russia Igor Kolb.
Special Slavic color will be attached to the Gala by “Hopak” from the ballet “Taras Bulba” performed by the Honored Artist of Russia Anton Korsakov and the wonderful performance with singing “Russian Falk Song” by the duet of Anna Tikhomirova and Artem Ovcharenko (Principal Dancer of the Bolshoi Theater).
“Such eclecticism is only possible in ballet galas, anyway this approach gives you the most complete picture of the unique heritage of Russian ballet on the one hand and of the present development of the Russian ballet tradition, on the other hand, which enables us to estimate the scale and greatness of the Russian ballet art. This is the best basis for strengthening mutual cooperation between the countries and promoting Russia as a center of world culture” – believes Ekaterina Galanova, Head of the International Ballet Festival DANCE OPEN, leading Russian operator of big international events with the participation of opera and ballet stars.
Representatives of the Venezuelan ballet school will have a unique opportunity to get acquainted with classical Russian choreography: for the first time the project includes creative workshops, a kind of master classes, where legends of modern Russian ballet, Igor Kolb, Anton Korsakov and Denis Matvienko will present the great traditions of Russian choreography to the participants.
The organizers of the project, the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Culture of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, believe that such educative part will open new horizons for creative growth and self-development of young artists in both countries and will contribute to the productive experience exchange between them; the grand project as a whole will facilitate the acquaintance of Latin America with life in Russia, development of multilateral and positive dialogue between our countries.
