Gala Evening for the guests of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum 2013

This evening the Menshikov Palace welcomed the guests of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum 2013 with the melodies performed by the Russian orchestra and shimmering candles. Visiting the Palace, which used to belong to Alexander Menshikov, the closest associate of Peter the Great and the first Governor of St. Petesrburg, the guests could experience the gorgeous atmosphere of an 18th century tsar’s reception.
They were offered to listen to a violin virtuoso Andrey Reshetin and his world famous chamber orchestra, as well as the best arias from the 18th century operas performed by the soloists of the Mariinsky Theater, besides they saw a unique choreography performances. Artem Krutko, having an unusual counter-tenor, so popular in the baroque epoch, became one of the most exotic parts of the Gala Evening. Accompanied by the characters from the ancient epoch the guests could stroll along historic galleries of the Palace and see its main sights as well as take part in the games, so popular among the nobility in Peter the Great’s time.
At the Gala Evening the guests were treated to the delicacies of the traditional cuisine of Peter the Great’s time and enjoyed the taste of different tsar’s drinks, listening to the charming sounds performed by the orchestra of classical music. The Gala Evening was closed with the performance of the European jazz legend – Jean-Luc Ponty Band from France. In the bright sounds of their improvisations you could hear the echo of the melodies of the remote past that inhabits this palace.
